Definitions:
Representative - A person who attends another body to express the views and opinions of LARSOA and reports to LARSOA the discussions of that body.
Advisor - An individual appointed by LARSOA as a specialist in a particular field in which he or she has an interest, background or qualification.
Duties:
Representatives and advisors must be aware of current LARSOA policies. These are contained in the members' area of the LARSOA website.
Representatives and advisors are expected to reflect the views they consider most suitable to the situation. They will find it impossible to voice the individual views of each LARSOA member, but they should seek the views of members whenever possible. If they express their own or their own authority's view, they should make this clear at the time.
LARSOA expects representatives and advisors to report on their activities. Whenever possible, they should send a written report, or minutes of any meetings they attend, by e-mail to the Secretary. If this is not possible, they should be prepared to give an oral report at the next suitable occasion.
If representatives are unable to attend a meeting, they should try to arrange for another LARSOA member to attend for them. If they are unable to arrange this, they may, in exceptional circumstances, ask a suitably qualified member of their own staff to deputise.
