Driving your business risk down

This new CD, ‘Driving your business risk down’, is acclaimed as the definitive resource for anyone wanting or needing to acquire an in-depth understanding of the issues relating to occupational road risk – whether they are road safety professionals, fleet managers or owner-managers.

The resource has been produced by road safety officers on behalf of LARSOA (Local Authority Road Safety Officers Association) and was launched in October 2003.

The CD is web-based and contains three sections of information and advice:

  • Policies - suggests areas where policies should be considered, and why.
  • Drivers - highlights items where monitoring and control would benefit an organisation.
  • Vehicles - focuses on specification and documentation that may be required.

Each section also contains examples of best and worst practice, related subject links and web links.

The resource’s ‘Library’ contains relevant case histories, good practice examples, press cuttings, useful resources, a list of publications, indexed web addresses and contact details for local authority RSOs.

The ‘Toolbox’ comprises a number of items that can be copied and customised, including policy statements, vehicle and driver check lists, incident reporting forms and a driver’s handbook.

In addition, three Microsoft PowerPoint presentations are provided to explain the importance and develop the arguments for ‘Managing Occupational Road Risk’. These aim to inform and persuade senior management, line managers and employees of their roles and responsibilities.
