Jugglestruck book available for order

Three local authorities in Wales have joined together to produce a story and workbook to back up a Theatre in Education (TIE) duo known as 'Jugglestruck'.

Pembrokeshire first employed the juggling duo, Luke and Lucy, as stilt walkers as part of a Walk to School initiative. RSO John Gobbi asked them to develop a play for the infant age group and this has been successfully touring schools in Wales and beyond for three years.

Following this success, a Jugglestruck play was developed for the junior age group and this began touring in September 2002.

RSOs from Carmarthenshire, Powys and Pembrokeshire County Councils, who had been working closely with Jugglestruck, felt that the junior play needed a follow up resource. A book, ‘The Adventures of Jugglestruck at Craggy Mountain’, is the result. The main topics covered are pedestrian and cycle safety.

"The ‘Adventures’ is based on the play and may be used to enforce the road safety messages of the performance," said Maggie Morgan, deputy director of education for Powys. "The book can also stand alone as a story book and inside there is a separate quiz and puzzle section."

The book (A4 size) is available in either English or Welsh and costs £1.00 per copy. Orders should be sent to Keith Griffiths, county RSO, Department of Transport and Engineering, Llanstephan Road, Johnstown, Carmarthen. SA31 3LZ,
