Reward for
three decades of road safety commitment
As reported briefly last month the county road safety officer for
Shropshire, Colin Pettener, has received the prestigious
Prince Michael International Road Safety Award after more than three
decades of work in road safety matters.
One of the reasons Colin was chosen to receive the award was for
his commitment and enthusiasm for the National Driver Improvement
Scheme, which now operates in every county throughout England and
Wales. Over 80,000 drivers have been through the scheme since it
began in 1991 and it is recognised by the ACPO.
Colin was presented to Prince Michael of Kent at the
award ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in December and was presented
with the award by Adrian Walsh, director of the Prince Michael Road
Safety Awards. "I feel very honoured, but it is really an award
for the county council and the people who have supported me"
he said.
