Could you
live to be 100?
An unusual and effective road safety show aimed at the elderly has
been created for Wandsworth Borough Council by a new theatre company,
The Dangerous Theatre Company.
The 40 minute show, You could live to be 100,
comprises various humorous sketches and compares traffic conditions
in 'the good old days' to those of today - using songs from the
war years to put road safety messages across in a subtle, non-condescending
way.
"The elderly are vulnerable road users and often difficult
to get through to," says Wandsworths Martin Andrews.
"But The Dangerous Theatre Company has produced a show that
has been received very well in Wandsworth's luncheon clubs and day
centres and is, I believe, quite unique."
The company will, hopefully, be producing another variation of the
show soon and, in the New Year, more shows aimed at other vulnerable
groups.
"I consider their charges around £230 per show
- to be very reasonable. All the actors live in the London area,
which helps to keep their prices down," Martin adds.
