Walk to School
project scoops international award
The International Walk To School project, which was initiated by
Dorset County Council's head of road safety, Robert Smith,
has won a major international environmental award.
The
award was presented to Robert Smith (right in picture) by the King
of Sweden in the famous Blue Hall -in which the Nobel Prize is also
presented - on 6 June. Robert chairs the International Walk to School
working group and represented the schemes co-ordinators from
25 countries at the ceremony.
The
International jury cited the project as an example of an innovative
global partnership between a number of different agencies.
"This award goes to all the partners in the project - and LARSOA
members are some of the most supportive in promoting the International
walk to school initiative," Robert Smith said after receiving
the award.
