Bromley launches Walking Bus CD

The London Borough of Bromley, in partnership with SELTRANS (South East London Transport Strategy), has produced a CD ROM for those interested in knowing more about the Walking Bus concept. Walking Bus is a relatively new initiative that encourages parents to walk their children to school.

The CD is described by the Bromley Road Safety Unit as a ‘multi-media interactive experience and a good practice guide on the benefits of establishing a Walking Bus as part of an integrated transport strategy’. It contains over 200 pages of text with commentary, 500 photographs, around 2 hours of video clips and links to useful websites. It is designed to be of use and interest to both parents and teachers.

The Walking Bus initiative is a key component of the London Borough of Bromley’s transport strategy, which aims to reduce congestion and improve mobility and access throughout the Borough. The road safety team hopes that the CD will inspire people to join a Walking Bus scheme.

A copy of the CD can be obtained from Jean Wilkinsion, Walking Bus co-ordinator at the London Borough of Bromley on 020 8313 4546 or road.safety@bromley.gov.uk
