Family cycling
day well supported in Cheshire
Cheshire County Councils road safety unit, in partnership
with Oulton Park racing circuit, invited all Cheshire primary schools
and pre-school groups to cycle around the track at Oulton Park in
a sponsored event to raise money for their schools or charity groups,
and to promote family cycling. In total 1500 riders took part in
the event on Sunday 15 June.
The event also included a variety of displays and exhibitions from
Cheshire Constabulary, a local bicycle retailer, the Groundwork
Trust and bicycle manufacturer Raleigh, as well as competitions
and fun sessions throughout the day.
A Let's Bike Safely competition ran for schools participating
in the Cheshire Cycle Training scheme. The competition was won by
a team of pupils from Egerton Primary School in Knutsford who were
presented with their trophies by senior road safety officer Andrea
Gray.
Another highlight of the day was the end of year presentation to
Junior Road Safety Officers, which took place in the Jackie Stewart
Business Centre.
