Italian road safety organisations seeks partners

LARSOA secretary Brian Hogarth has received an email from a road safety organisation in Italy seeking collaboration with similar organisations in other European countries.

The request came from Silvia Giugni at the Observatory on Road Mobility (Road Mobility Watch), which is funded by the city council in Rome.

The organisation’s role includes the collection and evaluation of traffic and accident data relating to the city’s roads; monitoring areas with the highest accident risk; developing proposals to improve traffic flow on the city’s roads; and organising road safety campaigns.

"We would like to know about initiatives in this field and are specifically interested in experience regarding communications and educational campaigns on road safety in urban areas," Silvia Giugni said in the email. "Furthermore, we are considering the possibility of organising a European congress in Rome on the problems of urban road safety and the impact of road safety campaigns in cities."
