..presenting road safety across the UK

Ever fancied being a writer?

Have you ever fancied putting yourself to the test as a writer? If you have, here’s the chance to put your skill to the test.

The LARSOA website project team is inviting ideas for features to appear on the website from the mid-part of 2003 onwards. "We are encouraging readers to become involved with the website by contributing towards the feature content," explains the newsfeed editor, Nick Rawlings. "Not only are we looking for ideas, we will encourage anyone who wants to test their journalistic skills to write the feature as well – with help of course, if required."

The monthly feature covers a wide range of subjects. So far this year topics have included driver assessment, drugs and driving and occupational road risk. "The ideal length for an online feature is around 1000 words," Nick Rawlings adds. "If anyone wants to have a go, I will be pleased to offer advice and to sub-edit if necessary."

The newsfeed attracts an average of around 1000 hits and 350 visitors each week. As each feature is published for one month, it will be available to around 1500 readers – so the author will be exposed to a large proportion of the road safety profession.

Anyone who would like to put forward a topic for a feature, or would like to try his or her hand at writing, should contact Nick Rawlings by email, nrawlings@stennik.com.
