Zach’s Pack makes impact with school pupils

‘Zach’s Pack’ - a teachers’ information resource pack which promotes a hard hitting road safety message – has had a significant impact with secondary school pupils in a number of local authority areas.

Zach’s Pack gives students the opportunity to explore the issues arising out of a newspaper report of a road death, focussing mainly on Zach’s role in the incident - and what he could have done to prevent an unnecessary fatality and his own injuries. While doing so it is hoped that students will examine their own attitudes and beliefs and develop strategies to have a positive influence on anyone whose driving is making them feel uneasy.

Zach’s Pack is endorsed by The Institute of Road Safety Officers (IRSO). IRSO describes it as ‘an excellent resource that helps encourage young people to take responsibility for their own behaviour as passengers. It is popular with both young people themselves and their teachers’.
