Campaign launched to attract SCPs

Eight local authorities in the eastern region have joined forces to launch a campaign to recruit school crossing patrollers and to highlight the important role they play in the community.

The campaign launched on 19 April and is running on buses, displays and posters under the slogan, ‘A little of your time can mean a lifetime for a child’. The campaign is designed to attract people who are punctual, reliable, good communicators and willing and able to work in all weather.

There is a shortage of school crossing patrollers across the eastern region. For example, of the 83 school crossing patrol sites in Suffolk there are currently 20 vacancies and 5 relief patrol vacancies. It is hoped this campaign will help fill some of the many vacancies across the region.

The local authorities participating in the campaign are Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Luton Borough Council, Norfolk, Peterborough City Council, Suffolk and Thurrock Council.
