No need for
speed, says Formula One star
Jaguar racing driver Mark Webber has endorsed the
new Milton Keynes Council Road Safety Booklet.
Mark - one of the rising stars in the world of Formula One - added
glamour to the recent launch of the Jaguar-sponsored booklet, which
explores all aspects of road safety from crossing the road to traffic
calming and seat belts.
The booklet, co-sponsored by BP and HSBC, also contains information
about the perils of speeding and drink driving, as well as advice
for motorcyclists and horse riders.
"I cant pretend I havent had any crashes,"
the Australian born F1 driver told the local magazine LiveMK. "I
did silly things when I was younger but was lucky enough to walk
away. You dont want to have to learn your lesson that way.
Now I have really woken up to road safety. You can cause yourself
a whole world of pain in a single second."
Mark readily agreed to get involved with the handbook when asked.
"Ive had friends knocked down on the street - as we speak
someone is probably having an accident. We get very blasé
about driving and you dont feel as if you are going so quick
in modern cars. You can also get very comfortable and when people
relax, it can be dangerous," he added."
