Greater Manchester
campaign enters new phase
The ten road safety teams in Greater Manchester, together with Greater
Manchester Police, have joined forces for the latest phase of the
Commit it to Memory publicity campaign.
According to the teams, most crashes in Greater Manchester involve
pedestrians - particularly children - and happen on residential
side roads near to their homes. Most child pedestrians are knocked
down when running out between parked vehicles.
The new campaign features an image of a child hidden between parked
cars with the tag line, I live here! This is my street.
Can you see me? The commercial is designed to remind drivers
and riders to be aware and to look out for children, and asks them
to slow down to 20mph in residential areas.
Over 200 buses throughout Greater Manchester are carrying the message
and 75,000 leaflets have been distributed throughout the area. Local
radio stations are also carrying the message, Commit to
memory
.crashes are no accident.
