Activity
books serve dual purpose during summer holidays
RSOs in Peterborough invited local children to participate in an
important road safety campaign during the school summer holiday
period.
Children were given free activity books to keep them entertained
while off school and at the same time learn important road safety
messages.
During 2001, 129 children were hurt on Peterboroughs roads
- 12 of them seriously. The activity book scheme is part of a bid
to reduce this number.
The two activity books contain a range of useful information and
topics including cycling, safety as a pedestrian, and information
about being a passenger in a vehicle. They also contain a range
of fun activities.

"These
books are an attempt to keep children in Peterborough safe throughout
the summer holidays and to raise their road safety awareness in
a fun and stimulating way," said David Frost (pictured

The two books are linked to a childs learning ability and
age and were made available from Peterborough Central Library and
the city council offices.
Further information about this initiative, and copies of the activity
books, can be obtained from Jennie Kendall on (01733)
