Lincolnshire
launches Red Routes road safety scheme
The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership (LRSP) launched its Road
Safety Red Routes campaign offering targeted advice to help
motorists remain safe on the countys roads - on 15 August.
Lincolnshires
12 Road Safety Red Routes have experienced an unacceptably high
number of collisions in recent years and the scheme aims to make
the public aware of locations where accidents have been occurring.
While
the main element of the campaign is highly focused education and
advice, it also incorporates commitment from the LRSP and its partners
to help improve the situation. As such, there will be increased
police presence along the routes and - where appropriate - the deployment
of safety camera technology and engineering solutions.
Red
road signs will be displayed at strategic locations along the 12
routes to highlight the scheme and focus attention on the routes
- and at some locations fatal collision comparisons will be detailed.
There
are also 12 individual route leaflets showing a map of the route,
collision sites, engineering schemes, camera sites, and the problems
motorists face. There is also a generic leaflet explaining the scheme.
