Road safety
roadshow to tour Lancashire in September
Residents across Lancashire are getting the chance to find out how
Lancashire County Council is working to reduce death and injury
on the highway as its road safety experts tour the county during
September.
Staff
from Lancashires Traffic and Safety Section are taking their
tour bus to 25 locations around the 12 Lancashire Districts. As
well as quizzing the experts, visitors will be able to pick up information
leaflets and watch a video about the Section's work. Visitors will
also get the chance to voice their opinion on the issues that matter
to them. Everything - from driving, walking and cycling, to the
school run -will be up for discussion.
"This
is a great chance for the public to meet the people who work hard
to make Lancashire's highways safer," Terry Carter, traffic
and safety section manager, explained. "Everyone has questions
and opinions about road safety as it affects us all, so it is important
that we explain how we reach decisions that affect local people.
"Road
safety is not just about traffic calming and speed cameras - that
is why we will also be highlighting important things we do like
training for school children, safer driving and research".
