Safe driving
can save you money, camera partnerships say
A handy-sized card to remind new drivers of speed limits and the
importance of controlling speeds was unveiled last week by the Safety
Camera Partnerships.
The
removable card - part of a new road safety leaflet created with
novice drivers in mind - will act as a handy speed limit indicator.
Anyone who has just taken their driving test will have proved they
are capable of controlling their speeds and handling their vehicle
safely. The leaflet emphasises the importance of controlling speeds
to keep insurance costs down and of driving more safely.
"Too many young people are dying on our roads," says Susan
Beck, national spokesperson for the UK's Safety Camera Partnerships.
"Young people make up a large percentage of new drivers and
we want to encourage these drivers to be in control of their speed.
"Controlling
your speed is the key to avoiding unnecessary points on your license
and we know that controlling your speed will improve your chances
of a safer journey. Insurance for any new driver is expensive and
we hope this card will help all new drivers to keep their insurance
down and stay safe on the roads."
This
leaflet is the second in a series of handouts planned for 2003/4.
