Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Halfords and seat-manufacturers Britax joined forces to give the free checks on 6 May. 70% of the 77 seats checked were fitted correctly - the corresponding figure in October 2005 was just 37%. Parents were also advised that from September it is likely to be a legal requirement for toddlers aged under three, and children under 1.35metres/4ft 5in to wear appropriate restraints while travelling in cars. A child silhouette was used to highlight the critical height. For further information about the tests contact Bracknell's RSO, Chris Pickett on 01344 351212, or: chris.pickett@bracknell-forest.gov.uk.
