Wakefield lays on in-car safety seminar

On 6 April Wakefield Council’s Travel Awareness Team organised an in car safety seminar to raise awareness about the importance of child car restraints at Outwood Grange College of Technology.

The event was be led by independent car seat adviser John Horsfall who is considered by many to be the country’s car seat ‘guru’, and included demonstrations and advice on the correct way to fit child seats and other restraints.

The seminar was well attended by health advisers, new mums, childminders, road safety committee members, school nurses and other members of the public. The day was split into two sessions - one in the morning and the other in the afternoon - enabling people to attend whichever session was most convenient. A crèche was also available for the duration of the event.

Feedback from the delegates was extremely positive. Comments on the evaluation form included ‘very informative and certainly made me think’, ‘invaluable - I learnt so much’ and ‘excellent - very thought provoking and interesting’.
