Watford make Herts team welcome

Watford FC held promotion chasing Wigan Athletic to a 1-1 draw in a Nationwide Division One fixture sponsored by the Hertfordshire County Council on Saturday 27 March.

A number of county councillors attended the game along with the Mayor of Watford, and representatives of the local police and the Watford Observer.

"As we couldn’t have any activities on the pitch at half-time we had special T-shirts made for the players to wear during the warm-up - with the 30 mile an hour roundel on the front and Think! Slow Down on the back," says Claire Hall, senior road safety officer. "The T-shirts looked very striking - no pun intended - and helped reinforce the message contained in the leaflets we gave out at the turnstiles and in the advert in the matchday programme.

"Watford made us very welcome and we’d like to thank them and the DfT for their support,’ Claire added.
