10,000
participate in schools road safety quiz
A quiz organised by Manchester City Council's Road Safety Team
to promote interest in, and knowledge of, a range of road safety
matters among 7-11 year old children reached its climax recently.
Since October last year more than 10,000 pupils from approximately
80 schools have competed in the various rounds of the quiz. Teachers
from across Manchester worked hard to prepare their pupils, who
were asked questions based on the Junior Highway Code in observation,
team and individual rounds.
The final was held at Manchester Town Hall and the winning school
was Didsbury Church of England Primary. The evening concluded with
a presentation of trophies and prize money by Manchesters
outgoing Lord Mayor, councillor Audrey
Jones.
