Putting a brake on biking deaths in Warwickshire

A drive to cut the number of motorcycle deaths in Warwickshire was launched on the eve of the annual bikers' Bulldog Bash, which took place at Long Marston airfield, near Stratford, on 14-15 August (Nuneaton Evening Telegraph, 12 August).

Deaths involving motorbikes have been running at about one a month on Warwickshire's roads during 2003 and 2004.

Posters were displayed around Stratford to get the message across to visitors to the show and to warn drivers of the extra number of motorbikes on the road.

"We hope these posters will remind bikers of the importance of being safe by reading the road, keeping to the speed limits, thinking ahead and driving defensively," said chief superintendent Jon Bond of the Warwickshire Casualty Reduction Partnership. "It is up to everyone of us to think about the other road users around us."
