In-car expert receives prestigious Award

Phil Emmans has been awarded the prestigious LAPC (London Accident Prevention Council) Laurie Bunn Road Safety Award for his contribution to road safety and casualty reduction in London. The award was presented to Mr Emmans last week during LAPC's AGM.

Phil Emmans has devoted much of his road safety career to developing and sharing his extensive knowledge of in-car safety. He has been instrumental in the delivery of high quality training across London, to enable boroughs to promote correct fitting and advice to residents.

Retailers and car manufacturers including Mothercare, Adams World, Halfords and Honda have received training from Phil in order to ensure that they provide the correct equipment and advice to customers.

As Enfield's RSO, Phil set up London's first in car safety advice centre to provide a free 'try before you buy' service. Many London boroughs have since followed Phil's lead and have set up their own advice centre.

"Phil Emmans is the face of car seat safety across London," says LAPC chairman Brian Marsh. "It is impossible to quantify just how many lives he has saved during his career. This award is to recognise his lifetime of achievement spent working in this field."
