Broken rattle's back for September

The DfT has announced details of the latest phase of the THINK! campaign to remind parents and carers about child car seat safety - and about new regulations that come into force in May 2006.

Figures show that in 2003, 15 children aged four and under died and 173 were seriously injured in cars.

Statistics also show that 95 per cent of children from birth to four years are restrained when travelling in the back of cars, and 98 per cent from birth to 13 years are restrained in the front seat.

Although the compliance rate is high, the DfT wants to remind all parents and carers that children should be in a correct size, properly fitted, purpose made child restraint that meets safety standards.

The campaign will feature the broken rattle press ad, which will run in a wide range of magazines aimed predominantly at women. The ads will appear in October issues, which will be available from early September. The ad gives advice about choosing the correct seat, and the need to ensure it is fitted properly.
