A restaurant and bar in Preston have joined forces to launch a special bus service to persuade customers not to risk their life and licence by driving.

The Docklands restaurant and late night bar The Strand are running a double-decker bus at weekends that visits locations in and around Preston city centre. More buses are planned for the future and the service will be extended into neighbouring towns and villages.

The Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety is supporting the initiative - the bus carries Partnership branding and road safety messages and Lancashire Constabulary's drink drive warning message.

"We are about people having a good time - but with it comes social responsibilities," said Dave Patterson, co-proprietor of The Strand.
