Please close this window to return to the LARSOA news pages TfL launches London's JRSO scheme Transport for London (TfL) has launched a new JRSO scheme to take the road safety message to London's primary school children. The aim is to get schools across London involved in the scheme by recruiting JRSOs in years five and six to act as road safety 'champions' for their school. The scheme has been brought about by a number of London Boroughs approaching TfL for funding for road safety education schemes in their schools. Instead of funding individual schemes on an ad hoc basis, TfL decided it would be better to create one overall scheme, which can be adapted to meet local needs by each Borough. "The JRSO pack was really well received by children in the pilot scheme," said Christine Fitzgerald , road safety officer at TfL. "With children keen to use the packs and engage with the messages they contain, I believe this will be a very effective tool to further reduce accidents across London."
