Beer goggles put shoppers in a spin

More than 400 pairs of novelty beer goggles have been handed out to Hertfordshire residents in a bid to combat summer drink driving.

Hertfordshire's road safety unit teamed up with local Pubwatch organisations to warn people about the dangers of drink driving.

As part of a summer road show, shoppers were invited to spin the 'Wheel of Misfortune' to find out the consequences of drink driving, and take part in a remote control car course - first without the beer goggles, and then with them.

Shoppers were then invited to take their 'beer goggles' into local pubs supporting the campaign and exchange them for a free soft drink.
