Fatigue event success

A driver fatigue event held at services on the M1 IN the run up to the Bank Holiday weekend proved successful and attracted media interest.

The event, which was organised by Milton Keynes' road safety team, was held on 24 August at the northbound services at Newport Pagnell.

"We spoke to hundreds of drivers and distributed leaflets about the dangers of fatigue, the need for drivers to plan their journeys, and to have a 15 minute break and take on caffeine every two hours," said RSO Vince Morley.

"We also had good media interest from BBC 3 Counties Radio and Horizon Radio, who both broadcast a feature and interviews, and LARSOA press and publicity officer, David Frost, was also interviewed for Sky News."

The event was also supported by Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, the British Coffee Association and drinks supplier Red Bull.
