Bracknell
businesses targeted by drink drive roadshow
Bracknell Forest Borough Councils road safety team held a
Driver Awareness Day for local businesses on Thursday 4 December
to reinforce the message about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The day kick-started the local Drink Drive Roadshow that
took place across the Borough in the lead up to Christmas (9-19
December inclusive). Speakers included John Osborne, director
of environment for Bracknell Forest, Chris Pickett,
RSO, who gave a presentation on how to avoid the morning after and
Professor Frank McKenna a psychologist from Reading
University.

Local
businesses in attendance included ICL, Waitrose, 3M, Boeringer Ingleheim,
Daler Rowney, Siemens, Hewlett Packard, BMW, Cable and Wireless
and Dell Computers.
RSOs also used the day to explain the new legislation concerning
the use of hand-held mobile phones in cars.
"During the festive season we hear so many horror stories about
accidents involving someone who has been for a drink and then taken
the fatal decision to drive home," said councillor Mary
Ballin. "The simple message is dont drink and
drive but the purpose of the roadshow was to educate people about
what is a safe amount to drink - and about the effects it has on
the body."
