| North Lanarkshire launches '20's Plenty'
North Lanarkshire's Community Safety Transport Group recently launched a publicity campaign aimed at reducing vehicle speeds in residential areas.
North Lanarkshire is the only council in Scotland to have introduced a 20mph advisory zone in all residential areas.
Following introduction of the scheme there has been an encouraging reduction in casualties, and regular publicity campaigns are organised to support the engineering methods. The campaign theme highlights 20 young children and uses the slogan '20 good reasons for slowing down in housing areas'.
Radio, bus backs and large poster hoarding sites have been used to carry the message. An ad trailer was also used to tour known problem areas. A special campaign pack is available for local residents or groups wishing to organise their own campaign.
