Also in the run up to the festive season, a new cinema advertisement highlighting the 'Jekyll and Hyde' effect that binge drinking has on women who drink to get drunk was launched last week by responsible drinking campaigners, The Portman Group.

"Among young women aged 16-24, the proportion drinking more than 35 units per week has more than tripled over the past 15 years, rising from 3 per cent to 10 per cent,"commented Jean Coussins, chief executive of The Portman Group.
