Mascot tries beer goggles for size

Peterborough United's mascot, Mr Posh, needed a little help staying on his feet when he donned a pair of beer goggles to promote road safety. The larger than life representative of the club, whose real name is Mick Jones, wasn't drunk - in fact, all he had been drinking were a few non-alcoholic 'mocktails'.

Mr Jones was backing a joint initiative by the police and city council at a recent match at Peterborough's London Road stadium to highlight the effects of alcohol on driving. The goggles are designed to simulate the effect alcohol has on vision.

"No one wants to suffer a 12-month hangover after being caught over the limit," said Clair George, road safety officer for Peterborough City Council.
