Teams offer road safety Xmas gifts

Two road safety teams are encouraging people to buy motorcycling safety lessons as Xmas gifts for their loved ones.

Buckinghamshire's road safety team is promoting its motorcycle enhancement day, as the ideal gift to equip loved ones with the skills they need to become safer riders. The course has been developed as part of the Be a Better Biker campaign, which launched in April 2004.

And the North Wales Police force is encouraging friends and family to buy £50 gift vouchers to be exchanged for safety lessons. The vouchers have been produced by the force's Bikesafe initiative, which aims to lower the number of motorbike crashes in north Wales.

"Bikesafe is reducing casualties by bridging the gap between taking your test and further training, and provides riders an affordable opportunity to learn about better riding techniques," said Bikesafe co-ordinator Paul Cheshire.
