Please close this window to return to the LARSOA news pages Christmas warning for drunken pedestrians Fife Constabulary has launched a beer mat campaign warning young pedestrians about the dangers of alcohol, and how it can affect their judgement. During the past three years in Fife, 86 drunken pedestrians have been killed or injured - and the age group most at risk are those aged 16-34 years. Research carried out by Fife Constabulary shows that many victims end up walking in the road while trying to make their way home from a night out. They are usually wearing dark clothing and therefore give the driver little or no chance to take avoiding action. It is hoped that promoting the problem will reduce the number of injuries by getting pedestrians to think about their own safety, and that of their friends.
