Drink Drive 2006 - part 2

Here's part two of our roundup of regional drink drive campaign activity.

Doesn't Christmas cost you enough already? That's the message from Cornwall's road safety unit in the run up to the festive season.

As well as raising awareness of the devastating effects that drinking and driving can have on the victims and families, the road safety unit is working with Truro Magistrates Court to raise awareness of the life changing consequences that being convicted can have on the driver.

It'll be lonely this Christmas - plan your journey, not a funeral. That's what Surrey County Council is saying to those who may be tempted to drink and drive over the festive season.

The campaign includes posters and leaflets carrying a hard-hitting image and an eye-catching message - and some practical ideas to avoid driving home after a night out.

Finally, Thurrock's RSOs are saying 'keep it safe - try a Mocktail instead'. They are suggesting an exciting alternative to the many alcoholic drinks tempting festive revellers - non-alcoholic Mocktails, which are made from fresh fruit juices and other soft beverages.

Members of the public and council staff tested the Mocktails on 5 December, when a professional cocktail maker was present at the Civic Offices, Grays.
