It's not just Santa bearing gifts

Santa Claus paid a surprise visit to a Northamptonshire Walking Bus on 6 December.

Children from Geddington primary school were treated to a wristband each from Santa who had turned up suitably dressed in a fluorescent red waistcoat for the daily walk to school.

The event was organised by BrightKidz to highlight the fact that Santa isn't the only one bearing gifts this season.

Recently announced government funding of £15 million for state funded primary schools in England means that many more Walking Bus schemes or other walk to school initiatives will be able to get started.

BrightKidz founder Alison Holland said: 'This funding will be a huge boost for the many parents or schools who may want to start a walk to school scheme.

"It's really important to let them know about it, and encourage them to apply for this funding before the 31 January deadline - and help them understand how to get a scheme started.'
