'Look after number one' plea to bikers
A new campaign launched last week reminds PTW riders of the special dangers and risks they face.
The campaign, 'Look after number one', encourages riders to take responsibility for their own safety, and not rely on others. It also reminds them that irrespective of who causes a crash that they are very likely to come off worst.
The campaign has been developed by the road safety publicity specialist consultancy Stennik, and is being offered to road safety teams across the UK.
"Although the basic campaign message is appropriate for all bikers, the tone and style may be most effective with young, newly qualified and inexperienced riders," explains Jo Lazar, project manager.
The main campaign resources are a leaflet, which provides 10 simple tips to help riders stay safe, and a poster, bus back and enamel pin badge. Resources will be available by mid-March, and the closing date for orders is Tuesday 20 February.
