Parents urged to book safety with their holiday

With many families now planning their summer holidays, Hull's RSOs are reminding parents not to arrange hire cars without thinking about child seats.

Councillor Mark Collinson said: "The time to think about how you can safely transport your children on holiday is now. Once you get off the plane it might be too late to book that child seat."

RSO Sue Boyeson added: "Car hire companies in some countries do not have a good reputation for providing safe child seats. Some families now take the seat with them, although this doesn't guarantee it will fit the hire car. Often, even if a seat has been booked, parents are left to fit it themselves, probably without any instructions."

The city council's road safety team is talking to local travel agents to see what can be done to remind parents to put safety on their holiday shopping list.
