'Technically accurate' DVD produced

A new DVD, Are you safely fitted?, has been developed on behalf of a number of road safety teams, Cleveland Police and LARSOA North East.

Child car seat manufacturer Britax has co-funded the project and provided support and assistance in the production of this 'technically accurate DVD'.

The company behind the project, Fused, says the resource has been produced in response to a call by Simon Ettinghausen, LARSOA chair, to make drivers more aware of the new laws with regard to child car seats.

The DVD has eight chapters to deliver information to parents as a simple user guide. Chapters include 'Choosing', 'Fitting' and 'Using' child car seats, and one covering the legal ramifications for those who ignore the law.

An interactive game has been included to encourage young children to use the appropriate restraint.

Elke Hahmann, UK Marketing Manager for Britax said: "This is a fantastic resource for road safety officers to help educate drivers about the new legislation. The simple and attractive format allows parents to hone in on those areas they are unsure of and the game element is ideal to involve children."

The DVD will be officially launched at the annual RoSPA Road Safety Congress, 26-28 February.
