Mayor meets safety conscious kids

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has presented prizes to the winners of the borough's annual road safety and green travel calendar competition.

The 50 children whose pictures were included in the calendar were invited to the mayor's parlour, together with parents, carers and head teachers.

Cllr Mrs Frances Taylor, chairman of the public transport and road safety advisory group, said: "I am proud to say that the child casualty rate in Kensington and Chelsea is one of the lowest in London. We also have high numbers of children walking to school and are hoping to improve on this through development of school travel plans."

Over 2,000 children from 21 schools entered the calendar competition.

The calendar is priced at £4 and can be obtained by emailing road.safety@rbkc.gov.uk.
