Surviving on 'Jungle Street'

Cornwall's road safety unit has produced a new campaign to inform parents and carers how to teach children road safety skills.

The campaign, Surviving on Jungle Street, outlines the three key pedestrian skills, and how to deal with understanding and developing a child's knowledge of road safety. It is designed to help children develop and discover safe strategies, instead of dictating safe and unsafe places to cross. It focuses on how to deal with crossing the road when safe crossing places such as zebra and pelican crossings are not available.

Jungle Street supports current child pedestrian training schemes, but can also be used as a stand-alone resource.

The campaign leaflet is available for RSOs to purchase. For further information and pricing contact Leigh-Anne Parfitt on 01872 322000, or roadsafety@cornwall.gov.uk
