Lancashire unveils teachers' toolkit
Teachers in Lancashire are being given a new toolkit to help make pupils' journeys safer on the county's roads.
'Journeys', from Lancashire's Road Safety Group, is designed to help teachers and governors integrate road safety into the school curriculum. The guide is presented in a colourful ring binder with easy to use sections and an accompanying CD-ROM.
Jackie Noblett, a teacher at Kennington County Primary School, Fulwood, said: "This is a fantastic way to incorporate road safety into the curriculum, with information on writing a road safety policy, lesson plans, resources, and advice on how to take part in pedestrian and cycle training.
"The performance indicators included in the document give defined goals for children to develop their knowledge and skills and will help provide us with evidence for standards such as OFSTED.
"Not only can we use Journeys within school, but it also includes information for parents which is ideal for home-school communications."
