Human 'zig zags' get message to parents

Pupils at a Swansea primary school and members of the city's road safety team formed human 'road markings' to highlight the dangers of parents parking outside the school gates.
The youngsters at St Helens School were helping to make a road safety poster. A picture of them dressed in luminous yellow clothing forming zig zags will be created with the slogan 'Would you park on these Zig Zags?' Every school in Swansea will receive a supply of the poster and a 3m banner to display on guard railing.
Deputy head teacher Lloyd Jones said the aim was to make parents think twice about ignoring the road markings. "We don't want to upset anyone, we just want to make sure the children are safe - I'm sure that the parents will take this on board," he said.
Safety officer Jeff Green said: "We hope the poster campaign will highlight the issue and make motorists think twice before parking outside school gates."
