ETHEL
helps recruit SPSs in Hertfordshire
Ethel' is Hertfordshire
County Councils latest publicity weapon in the battle
to recruit school crossing patrols.
The Road Safety Unit takes Ethel around the county to visit places
such as libraries and supermarkets to advertise local vacancies,
which are written up on her chalkboard - and she is proving very
popular.
Road safety officer Barbara Crane, who
designed Ethel, says: "She attracts attention wherever she
goes and is definitely helping us to fill vacancies in some of our
more difficult areas."
Ethel is pictured here with Watford school crossing patrol Joan
Wanford, who recently celebrated
25 years in the job.
