Warning signs unveiled for National Motorcycle Week

Devon County Council's road safety team has unveiled new warning signs for motorcyclists on some of Devon's main commuter routes to coincide with National Motorcycle Week (17-24 July).

Five routes have been identified and the signs will be located where there have been a high number of collisions involving motorcycles. The signs carry two messages - THINK! Bike and Rider in your blindspot? - to remind drivers that bikers regularly use the route and have been victims in the past.

Last year, despite making up only two per cent of traffic, motorcyclists accounted for nearly 40 per cent of those killed on Devon's roads. More than 100 collisions involving motorcycles have occurred on the County's roads in the last five years.

The campaign is part of Devon County Council's three-year motorcycle safety campaign, Bringing Bikers Out of the Blindspot.
