Passport stamped for safer cycling
Young cyclists in Lancaster are benefiting from Lancashire County Council's Road Safety Group's Passport to Safer Cycling scheme.
Available to children aged 10 or over, Passport to Safer Cycling teaches young cyclists to start, stop, signal and turn - while encouraging them to think about the difference between riding and playing on cycles.
"This scheme raises children's awareness of staying safe on the roads," said Peter Byers , road safety adviser. "As well as reinforcing the importance of wearing a helmet, it also promotes a healthy lifestyle by encouraging children to use their bikes more. It is essential that children ride safely as a study conducted by the Transport Research Laboratory suggests that training has a lasting positive effect."
