Beer goggles donned for safety event
Drivers were invited to don 'beer goggles' as part of a drink and drug drive campaign staged by Wolverhampton City Council's road safety team on 1 July.
Visitors drove a simulated racing car around the Silverstone racetrack under normal conditions - and then repeated the course wearing a special pair of goggles designed to mimic the effects of drugs and alcohol.
As a memento, each driver received a photograph of themselves in the simulator - with the anti drug/drink drive message displayed on the frame.
Senior RSO Paul Lever said: "The event proved particularly popular with young male drivers - and as most people are aware this group can be particularly susceptible to getting behind the wheel after consuming illegal drugs and/or alcohol. The event enabled us to reinforce the anti drug/drink drive message in a way that struck a chord with participating drivers."
