'Name and shame' campaign praised by police

South Wales police have praised a regional newspaper, the South Wales Evening Post, for its name and shame drink-driving campaign, which backed the police's month-long Operation Heatwave.

The Evening Post named and shamed the first drink-driver just two days after the campaign started. The driver was given a two-year ban and a £170 fine.

Statistics show that the percentage and number of positive breath tests in South Wales were three times higher than the three other Welsh police forces Of the tests taken, 11.9% were positive.
