RoSPA and LARSOA urge parents to prepare now

LARSOA and RoSPA are urging parents to act now to ensure they have the correct seats for their children, rather than wait until September when new child seat legislation comes into force.
"This will be a major change for many parents," said Kevin Clinton, RoSPA head of road safety. "They need to look at the proposals as soon as they can rather than leaving things until the last minute. This law will make children much safer in cars and should lead to a reduction in deaths and injuries on our roads."
David Frost, LARSOA press & PR officer, supports this view. "RSOs around the UK are already promoting this change in the law to parents and carers," he said.
"It's important that the issue is highlighted now, and throughout the next two months, to ensure that children are travelling safely. Parents must have the information to ensure the safety of their children on the move and not just belt them up, but boost them where necessary.
"When it comes to travelling with the kids in the car you need to bring them, belt them - and probably boost them!"
To help people understand the new regulations RoSPA has established a website, www.childcarseats.org.uk, which it says is already attracting 2,500 people a day.
